TONY FERNANDES


Chef Tony Fernandes has won 40 medals from culinary competitions worldwide, and his infectious personality has garnered him spots on Breakfast Television, CBC News, City News, The Food Network and recognition in dozens of newspapers and cookbooks.
Before moving his family to Canada in 2001, Chef Tony was Executive Chef at some of the best five-star hotels in India, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. He was also part of a team that is recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records for creating the Biggest Bowl of Biryani – a feat that took place in Dubai in 2001.
In the winter of 2010, Chef Tony brought victory home from the prestigious Culinary World Cup in Expogast, Luxembourg, where he competed against more than 2,400 chefs from 53 countries and won a silver medal for Canada. 
Known for his ability to fuse global flavours with foods his guests know and love, Chef Tony has personally catered to various Hollywood and Bollywood stars, former Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin, the President of India, the Sheikhs of UAE and the First Lady of Poland.
In addition to his position as Crowne Plaza Toronto Airport’s Executive Chef and Food & Beverage Director, Tony is the Director of the Escoffier Society of Toronto, an honorary lifetime member of the Emirates Culinary Guild, a member of Les Toques Blanches and a Master Craftsman of the UK’s Cookery and Food Association.
